Designed by Giulio Podesti and inaugurated by César Ritz in 1894, the building was constructed on the ancient Baths of Diocletian, close to Piazza della Repubblica and not far from Termini train station. Completely transformed in the 1906 by René Sergent, a very successful Paris-based architect of the time, the hotel also underwent restoration during the WWII.

The restoration project includes works on the ground floor, with new layout and finish of the common areas, on rooms and facades, in order to improve the functionality preserving the historic and artistic value of the building.
